About the job

The IoT team is looking for a Software Engineer, Back-end to help push our SAS, a leader in analytics, into new spaces in various cloud marketplaces. Our team

Our team is focused on using streaming analytics to solve challenging industry problems that matter, things like using machine learning to generate predictive models to optimize solar plants, alert factory workers to problems in plants and more, with your help. These solutions are built on SAS’s Event Streaming Platform with models from our data scientists, and we are looking to bring that data to life across various industries in ways that matter to our users on their native cloud platforms. As a Software Engineer, Back-end you will:

  • Produce code to create analytical models from customer data using SAS services.
  • Engineer and scale solutions that gather thousands of data readings a second from IoT devices.
  • Produce calculations based on streaming data in real time to inform and alert customers.
  • Integrate with large scale historical and streaming data services.
  • Work with front-end developers and designers to produce streamlined experiences.
  • Collaborate with other IoT groups to transform research projects or ideas into production level product features.
  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

 

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related quantitative field and 5-8 years of software application development experience.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • 3+ years of production application development experience in Go and one or more major public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Knowledge and experience with managed Kubernetes services such as AKS and microservice based architecture.
  • Familiarity with automation through interaction with remote APIs (REST) and experience securing them in microservice environments.
  • Agile development practices and experience in continuous delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with event streaming technologies and protocols such as Kafka/MQTT
  • Experience with SQL databases, queries, and optimizations with a preference to Postgres

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining infrastructure in a public cloud platform.
  • Experience with horizontally scaled multi-platform enterprise systems.
  • Experience with other programming languages often employed in our stacks such as SAS Code, Node.js (React), Python, Unix Shell (bash, ksh, zsh).
  • Hands on experience with integration of application code into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of security fundamentals and best practices including data privacy, access, and authorization flows.
  • Familiarity with analytic techniques and streaming technologies.
  • Full stack development experience.
  • Open-source contributions relevant to the above.
